Gulshan Society organised a special evening on Saturday, combining music, camaraderie and future plans, focusing on the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected committee.
On the occasion of the formal introduction of the newly elected executive committee, this special cultural evening lasted until late at night at the Sheraton Hotel in the capital.
The event began at 7:30 pm with the performance of singer Sabbir Zaman.
In the main part of the event, the outgoing committee presented various activities and achievements during their tenure. At this time, they were presented with farewell mementos.
President Omar Sadat, who won the Gulshan Society elections twice in a row, introduced the leadership of the new committee and later the new committee officially took the oath.
After the oath-taking, Gulshan Society president Omar Sadat presented the work plan of the newly elected executive committee for the next two years.
He said, "A special task force is currently working to develop Gulshan into a modern and aesthetic city. Along with Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara and Niketan societies are also included in this task force."
"The main goal of this new council is to transform Gulshan into an international standard livable area by solving the encroachment and dumping problems in the area with the help of RAJUK and DNCC", said Omar Sadat.
Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan, Gulshan Society Secretary General Mujibur Rahman Mridha, among others, also spoke at the event.
Legendary singer Sabina Yasmin took the stage at 9:30 pm. The evening was filled with popular songs including 'Sundar Subarna Tarunya Labanya', 'Ami Rajnigandha Phuler moto', 'Dukkho Bhalobese Premer Khela Khelte Hoi', 'Chithi Dio', 'Ai Mon Tomake Dilam', 'Ogo Bandhu Kache Theko', 'Shudhu Gaan Geye Parichoy', 'Isharay Shish Diye', 'Se Je Keno Elona'.
She concluded her part in the event with her another favourite song 'Sob kota janala Khule dao na'.
