Gulshan Society Chand Raat-'26 festival underway marking Eid-ul-Fitr

A three-day colourful festival 'Gulshan Society Chandrat Utsob-'26' has begun in Gulshan of the capital city of Dhaka on the occassion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, which already has spread a festive atmosphere among the city dwellers.

Although the festival has began on Wednesday evening at Gulshan-2 Lake Park, it was formally inaugurated on Thursday afternoon. Starting from 4 pm every day, the festival will continue until Sahri on March 20, subject to the sighting of the moon.

The initiative has been taken jointly by the Gulshan Society and Dhaka North City Corporation. According to the organizers, the main target of this festival is to bring back the tradition of 'Chandrat Utsob and the atmosphere of communal harmony that have been lost in the hustle and bustle of modern city life.

There are diverse programs for the visitors as over 30 renowned brands are participating with their stalls, where premium lifestyle products, handmade jewelry, home decor items and local and foreign artworks are being displayed and sold.

The entire event is being supervised by Barrister Omar Sadat, President of the Gulshan Society.

Sohel R, K. Hossain, Managing Director and CEO of Bank Asia PLC, Syed Almas Kabir, Vice President of Gulshan Society, Syed Ahsan Habib, General Secretary, and Shrabanti Dutta, Chairman of the Cultural Affairs Committee, among others, were present as the distinguished guests.

Sufi music, ghazal and qawwali songs have made the cultural atmosphere more lively. In addition, traditional puppet shows have been organized for the children, which act as an additional attraction for visitors including families.

The organizers hope that the event, which began with renewed enthusiasm after the rain on the second day of the festival, will further enhance the joy of the arrival of Eid among the city's residents.
