The foundation stone for a new five-time prayer (Panjegana) mosque has been laid at Gopalganj University of Science and Technology, aimed at serving the Muslim teachers, students, officers, and staff of the university.
The mosque is being constructed with the support of the Gopalganj District Administration and the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). It will include separate ablution and prayer facilities for male and female worshippers.
The foundation stone was officially laid at 10 AM on Thursday behind the administrative building by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Hossain Uddin Shekhar.
Also present at the event were Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Sohel Hasan, Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate (Joint Secretary) Muhammad Kamruzzaman, LGED Executive Engineer Md Ehsanul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr Md Kamruzzaman, Registrar Md Enamul Zaman, Head of Statistics Department Dr Kamal Hossain, Proctor Dr Arifuzzaman Rajib, Director of ICT Cell Dr Saleh Ahmed, and Chief Engineer of the university SM Eskandar Ali, along with other faculty members, students, and staff.
Following the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Dr Hossain Uddin Shekhar expressed gratitude to the District Administration and LGED for their support in making the mosque a reality.
