A grocer in a remote Shailkupa village in Jhenidah was hacked and chopped to death by his village rivals. The incident took place at Subidda Gobindapur under Dhalaharachandra union of Shailkupa. The deceased was identified as Joad Ali, 45, son of Dalil Uddin of the village.
Shailkupa police station officer in charge Bazlur Rahman said Joad was running a grocery shop in front of his house in the village. Someone in the night of Saturday had discharged stool in front of the shop which led quarrel between Joad Ali and another villager Haider Al. At one stage Haider Ali and his associates started beating up and chopping him.
JOad Ali was taken to Shailkupa upazila health complex in a critical state where he succumbs to his injuries when he was undergoing treatment
Police was preparing to file a case and conducting drives to nab the killers, police station officer in charge said.
