We congratulate Narendra Modi on his becoming the Prime Minister of India for a third straight term following the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Modi, flanked by the leaders of his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his coalition members, vowed complete allegiance to the constitution of India in his swearing-in ceremony held on Sunday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League Awami League government looks forward to working with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deepen the Bangladesh-India partnership. Bangladesh will continue to work together with India to strengthen the friendship and consolidate cooperation on the various issues.
Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi exchanged pleasantries after Modi’s swearing-in ceremony in New Delhi. Sheikh Hasina had gone to India to attend Modi’s oath-taking ceremony.
The two prime ministers sat in a one-to-one meeting (tete-e-tete) after the oath-taking ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhaban in the evening.
During the meeting, they expressed the hope that the existing bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries would be further strengthened in the future.
The bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India have reached new heights under the prudent leadership of Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi. We believe, all outstanding issues between the two countries will be resolved.
The people of both the countries reap mutual benefits from the friendly relations in terms of different aspects, including connectivity.
The two South Asian nations--Bangladesh and India have also made fresh vow to work together as partners for mutual benefits and to bring peace and prosperity in the region as a whole. Issues relating to connectivity, trade and commerce, investment, water resources management, security, border and line of credit also came up for discussion during the meeting between the two leaders.

As the bilateral relations between the two countries are role model for neighbourhood diplomacy, we hope all the outstanding issues, including Teesta water sharing would be resolved soon the way many issues had been solved based on the spirit of friendship and cooperation.
We believe the Indian government led by Narendra Modi would continue to walk hand in hand with Bangladesh to help it attain the desired progress, stability and prosperity. To keep the spirit of 1971 alive, it is also very necessary for the two countries to fight the the evil forces together, who want to destroy our mutual trust.
Since Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971, the two countries shared history and culture, mutual trust and respect, longstanding friendship and continued cooperation. The two countries also resolved many outstanding issues in the spirit of friendship and cooperation.
Bangladesh got back the enclaves after many decades during AL government’s past tenure. As a result, size of the country (Bangladesh) has increased. It is very clear to all that whatever Bangladesh has got from India was achieved by the Awami League government. So, we the hope that all the outstanding issues, including Teesta water sharing, will be solved immediately.
We believe the existing relationship between the two nations is very fantastic. Our relations with India was ‘written with blood.’ The ralatonships between the two countries have reached new heights under the dynamic leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s daughter Sheikh Hasina.
