The location of any university bus can be known from anywhere through Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. Shahjalal University of Science and Technology(SUST) Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed is going to start using this method.
There are a total of 39 vehicles in the university's transport pool.
Transport Administrator Professor Anwar Hossain gave this information on Monday, (June 19th).
He said that the start of this system will begin with the initial installation of tracking devices in the university buses on Tuesday. The director of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) M. Jahirul Islam, PhD., PEng will provide technical support.
Regarding the use of the tracking system, he said, our Vice-Chancellor strives for the maximum use of technology and works to ensure its use. Automation systems are another effective initiative of Sir for quick results. We will go one step further with this tracking system. To use the technology, a user first needs to install an app from the Play Store on their mobile phone. After that, you have to sign in to the app with your username and password. This information will be provided to everyone at the university.
Go to Apps and select Google Maps.
Then anyone in the university can track the location of the vehicles by clicking on the all button of the app.
A postgraduate student of the public administration department of the university Sabiha Saimon Pushpo, said that sometimes it is not known where the bus is on the way back from tuition. Now knowing where the bus is in this tracking system, I can board the bus on time. That's why we provide cordial thanks and respect to our VC Sir.
University Transport Administrator Professor Mohammad Anwar Hossain said, our Vice-Chancellor has added new buses and minibuses to the transport pool, including ambulances and other vehicles. This tracking system is a proper use of technology to save time. This will allow anyone to know where the vehicles are in a certain process. As a result, the suffering of waiting for the car will be reduced.
