Govt works to ensure safe vegetable for consumers Razzaque

Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque on Friday said the government is working to ensure safe vegetables for the consumer through keeping the farmers under supervision. “The country is now surplus in food. Agriculture has turned into commercial agriculture under the prudent policy and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration session of the “Bangabandhu Krisoker Bazar” at the Shech Bhaban in the city, said a press release. Razzaque said in the last one year, the government kept the farmers under supervision and for that they are producing safe food. No fertilizers or pesticides were used in farming the vegetables which were brought for sale in the Bangabandhu Krisoker Bazar, he added.

“The primer has kept her commitment. She has reduced the fertilizer prices for the 5th times. This is possible for the daughter of Bangabandhu. Now our goal is to ensure a safe and nutritious diet,” he added. Agriculture Secretary Md Nasiruzzaman presided over the function while Director General of the Agriculture Extension Department Dr Md Abdul Muyeed and Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Robert D Simpson were present.
