The Government of Bangladesh is actively working to resolve conflicts between Rohingya refugees and the local host communities, said Shamsud Douza Nayan, Additional Commissioner of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commission (RRRC) at a stakeholders' workshop held at a hotel in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday.

RRRC Commissioner Shamsud Douza Nayan also emphasized the importance of staying cautious against misinformation and rumors about Rohingya refugee camps being spread through social media.

Supported by GIZ, a German aid agency, the workshop was organized by the national NGO FIVDB. The workshop focused on peace mediation in the Ukhiya-Teknaf region.

Commissioner Nayan further said everyone must work together to resolve the tensions between Rohingya refugees and the local residents. Mediation, he said, can play a significant role in this regard. Moreover, the public should be aware of the misinformation and the accurate information.

The function was attended, among others, by representatives from both national and International organizations including UNHCR and IOM,  Senior Assistant Judge and District Legal Aid Officer Sajjatun Nesha Lipi; Senior Assistant Secretary and Camp  Incharge Khanzada Shahriar Bin Mannan; Senior Assistant Secretary and Assistant Camp Incharge Mostak Ahmed; Assistant Camp Incharge Shafiqul Bari;  Head of Programs at GIZ Alexander Betz; Zahid Hasan; Mobashwerul Islam; FIVDB Executive Director Bazle Mostafa Raji; Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury; and Mahiuddin Sardar.

They shared their thoughts and expressed hopes for the project’s further development and success.
