State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid today said that the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working tirelessly to assist the helpless and poor patients.
The Department of Social Welfare has been providing one time financial assistance to various serious patients including cancer, kidney, heart disease who are unable to afford the cost of their treatment.
As a result, many poor patients are getting relief from the generosity of the Prime Minister; he said these while addressing as chief guest at a check distribution ceremony organized by the Social Services Department at Muktagachha Upazila Parishad premises.
The state minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's contribution to human service and people's welfare is being widely appreciated.
He urged the check recipients to cast their votes for Sheikh Hasina in the next general elections and said that the Awami League government has set a precedent in the country and abroad for the welfare and prosperity of the country and its people.
Muktagachha Upazila Nirbahi Officer AKM Lutfar Rahman presided over the ceremony. Among others, Senior Vice President of Muktagachha Thana Awami League Azizul Haque Idu, Upazila Women Vice Chairman Murshida Akter Kakoli, Mymensingh Press Club Vice President AZM Imam Uddin Mukta, Upazila Social Welfare Officer Zahirul Islam and Publicity Secretary of Upazila Awami League Prof Salim Sarkar, were present.
Later, the state minister handed over the checks of Tk 50,000 to 25 cancer, kidney, liver, thyroid, paralysis, congenital heart disease and thalassemia patients of the upazila, municipality and 10 unions.
