Govt working to combat drug abuse: Kamal

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Wednesday said law enforcement agencies are working relentlessly to eradicate drug abuse from the society to protect young generation from moral degradation for ensuring their bright future, reports BSS.

“As per the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh, all law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to eradicate drug abuse from the society,” he told a programme on the anti-drug campaign on city’s Patenga RAB-7 office premises. The home minister said, “We have taken three types of special initiatives to free the country from the deadly clutch of drug… Agencies concerned are working in coordinated manner to fight against drug abuse.”

He said law enforcement personnel have remained alert at the gateway for stooping entrance of all kinds of drugs, particularly yaba pills. Kujendra Lal Tripura, MP, Habibur Rahman, MP, Faridul Hoque Khan, MP, Pir Fazlur Rahman, MP, MA Latif, MP, Director General of RAB Benjir Ahmed, DIG of Chattogram range Khondakar Golam Faruk, CMP commissioner Mahbubur Rahman, among others, addressed the function with commandant of RAB Lieutenant Colonel Mashiur Rahman Jewel in the chair.

Later, the home minister distributed books on life of Bangabandhu as well as drug abuse and militancy among students of different schools of Patenga areas.
