Govt working on product diversification thru ‘One Village-One Product’ programme

Japan ambassador meets State Minister for Commerce

The government is working to further diversifying exportable products through 'One Village, One Product' programme, State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu on Monday.

The state minister made the remarks while exchanging views with Ambassador of Japan in Bangladesh IWAMA Kiminory, as the envoy paid a courtesy call on the Minister of State.

Titu expressed desire to get support from Japan's experience to make the programme ‘One Village, One Product” a success.

He mentioned that the Prime Minister has announced 'Handi­crafts' as the product of the year,

Ambassador of Japan IWAMA Kiminori applauded the program and expressed hope for cooperation, saying that Japan wants to strengthen relations with Bangladesh. 

“Japan is interested in working as a partner in the development of Bangladesh. We hope Bangladesh will participate in World Expo 2025 to be held in Japan next year”, the envoy added.

The State Minister for Commerce further mentioned that the “Japan is Bangladesh's development partner. We look forward to extend all cooperation in expanding trade and commerce between the two countries.”
