A huge amount of land of Bangladesh Railway which was grabbed by different quarters has been recovered recently. One of such lands has been recovered in city’s Tejgaon area.
However, the government is not only saving such lands but also utilising them for the development of the country.
Earlier, the piece of land in Tejgaon was occupied by grabbers. But, now it is being used for Dhaka Elevated Expressway is Bangladesh's first elevated expressway project. It will connect the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with Kutubkhali via Mohakhali, Tejgaon and Kamalapur.
It is one of the largest infrastructure projects taken up by the incumbent government to ease traffic congestion in the capital. It will be 46.73 km (153,300 feet) long including the connecting roads and will cost around ৳122 billion (US$1.4 billion).
Work of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway (DEE) has got momentum with majority of foreign experts and workers joining the project despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Experts said that it is a reflection of the way Bangladesh going fast and in the right direction under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
This Expressway will make a huge impact, allowing the private cars and motorbikes to travel from north to south in just 20 minutes.
