The Bangladesh government is making every effort to ensure the safe return of the national football team from Nepal amid ongoing unrest in the country.
The team’s return, scheduled for 3:00pm local time from Tribhuvan International Airport, was temporarily delayed after the airport authorities canceled all flights due to the worsening situation.
Players and officials are currently staying at the team hotel.
Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiya is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the team’s safety and smooth return.
Senior officials from the adviser’s office and the Ministry of Youth and Sports are taking all necessary steps to bring the team home quickly and the Bangladesh Embassy in Nepal is also being regularly consulted.
Following Nepal’s recent political changes, including the resignation of the Prime Minister, the Bangladesh government is coordinating closely with the Nepalese military to ensure the team’s safe return.
The adviser has spoken by phone with team captain Jamal Bhuiya and team manager Amer Khan to check on the team’s situation and assured that all possible arrangements are being made for their prompt return to Bangladesh.
