Govt to provide houses to 289 families in Sundarganj

As many as 289 landless and homeless families of Sundarganj upazila in the district would get pucca houses from the government soon.

"A total of 289 houses would be handed over to the selected families of the upazila soon."

UNO Mohammad Al-Maruf disclosed this while he was briefing journalists about handing over land and houses to the landless and homeless families of the upazila at the conference room of upazila parishad.

Following the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, pucca houses with modern facilities are being constructed and handed over to the landless and homeless families at the supervision of upazila administration in the upazila like other parts of the country, the UNO said.

He said the total number of allotted houses in the upazila is 1,691.

Of them, 1,192 houses have already been handed over to the beneficiaries in three phases, he said.

The rest 211 houses would also be handed over to the families after the completion of the construction work, he added.

Upazila chairman Ashraful Alam Sarker Lebu, upazila agriculture officer Rashidul Karim, upazila engineer of LGED Shamsul Arefin, upazila project implementation officer Walif Mondal and journalist Shajahan Miah spoke at the function, among others.
