Bangladesh government is looking to provide 1cr families with financial aid. The decision was taken keeping the time or Ramadan and Eid-Ul-Fitr in mind along with marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief allocated Tk 450 cr, according to a press release issued on Wednesday.
According to the press release, 8779203 VGF cards for 492 upazilas of 64 districts and 1230746 VGF cards for 328 municipalities were allotted under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) program.
Every family is going to receive a sum which is equivalent to the price of 10 kilograms of rice, amounting to Tk 450 under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) program of the ministry.
The financial aid will look to help the needy and extremely poor families in order for them celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr, scheduled in over a month, in a joyful manner.
Similar timetime last year, the government provided 50 lakh poor families affected by the sudden crisis of the pandemic with a cash assistance of Tk 2,500 each.
Alongside, the food ministry distributed 20 kilograms of rice to each of the listed 50 lakh families as well.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief had implemented the rice distribution program in June last year.
