Govt to introduce industry award marking ‘Mujib Year’

Industries Ministry is going to introduce industry award, titled “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Industry Award” marking the celebration of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports BSS.

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun today revealed the information at a press conference at the Industries Ministry conference room in the city. Humayun said the award will be given in seven categories – large, medium, small, cottage, micro, handicrafts and hi-tech industry.

First prize winner will get Taka 3 lakh cash, 25 grams of gold-plated crest and a replica while the second prize will be cash Taka 2 lakh, 20 grams of gold-plated crest and a replica and 3rd prize will be cash Taka one lakh and 15 grams of gold-plated crest and a replica, he added. He informed that Industries Ministry has already called application for this award and the application form is now available on the ministry website.

The industries minister said a national seminar will be organised on “Industrial Thinking of Bangabandhu” for giving people a clear concept about the development plans and initiatives of the Father of the Nation for the industrial sector. In honor of the memory of the Father of the Nation, he said, mural of Bangabandhu will be set up in the lobby of the first floor of Shilpa Bhaban or in a convenient location.

He said Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) will make a documentary based on the development plan of the present government. Besides, he said, a discussion on “Industrialised Bangladesh and Dream of Bangabandhu” will be held on the occasion. He informed that Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) will set up murals of Bangabandhu on its premises and all of its subordinate mills or entities.

He said Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BISC) will  the ‘BSCIC Industrial Fair’ at its headquarters, divisional cities and 56 districts. A mural will also be set up at the BSCIC new Bhaban, he added. Humayun said Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (BITAC) will campaign the development activities of the present government through setting up digital display board.

He informed that National Productivity Organisation (NPO) will campaign the productivity related information through making documentaries and Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) will observe the day of getting the International Standard Organisation (ISO) membership.

He said Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) will discuss the life of Bangabandhu at a session of its every training course while Patents, Designs and Trademarks Department will organise a seminar on the ‘Importance of Intellectual Property in case of Bangladesh’s Development’ and SME Foundation will organise a seminar on ‘Bangabandhu in Industrialisation’. State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder and Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim, among others, attended the occasion.

Kamal Mojumder said Bangladesh is moving forward under the prudent policy and dynamic leadership of daughter of Bangabandhu Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Under her leadership, he said, Bangladesh has already achieved the recognition of developing countries. He said Industries Ministry is working following the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for implementing the plan of industrialized country.

Bangladesh is going to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from March 17, 2020 to March 17, 2021. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared ‘Mujib Year’ during the period of birth centenary celebration to make people aware of the authentic history of Bangabandhu and the Liberation War.
