Adviser to the Ministry of Food Ali Imam Majumdar on Monday said that our goal is to increase food stock.
He said this at a view exchange meeting with officials of the Ministry of Food in the conference room of the Secretariat on Monday.
At the beginning of the programme, the Food Adviser paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War and the July Uprising and wished for the recovery of the 50,000 injured.
In his speech, the adviser identified all the problems of the Ministry of Food and urged them to face the challenges and keep the import process continuing. At this time, he appreciated the initiative taken by the ministry to ensure food security.
Mentioning that necessary support will be provided with incentives to encourage private companies to import food, he said some agreements have also been made to further import foods, he added.
Ali Imam Majumder urged the officials to work keeping in mind the background of August 5. The adviser said that it will not be difficult to deal with the food crisis unless there is a major natural disaster. Besides, necessary support will be provided with incentives to encourage private companies to import food.
Regarding the increase in the price of rice, he said, the Ministry of Food has continued to import. Some agreements have also been made. Increasing supply at the government level of food management will keep prices affordable.
At the beginning of the view-exchange meeting, the Secretary of the Ministry of Food welcomed the adviser. Later, the scope and vision and mission of the Ministry of Food were presented. The adviser is also informed about the ongoing development activities of the Ministry.
Secretary of the Ministry of Food Masudul Hasan and senior officials of the ministry were present at the programme.
