Govt to deal sternly with troublemakers: Gowher Rizvi

The government will not stay away from taking stern actions if necessary for keeping up religious harmony in the society. 

Sounding this note of warning against the trouble-makers, International Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister Gowher Rizvi said Bangladesh is a secular country with stable religious harmony.

The program was organaised by Bangladesh Inter Religious Forum for Peace and Harmony (IRFPH) at Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh (KIB) on Saturday in the city.   

He said Bangladesh is still a role model of religious harmony, and those who would indulge in creating conflicting situations to serve their ulterior motive would be resisted at any cost.      

He said, the government would deal with the bad elements of the society and also those who would put obstacles on way to the path of development. 

The speaker said at the beginning there were just four Muslims and three Christians in the organisation and it was mostly a discussion group. 

Later, the members became more organized; and it received government’s registration. 

They said everybody can be a good citizen it doesn’t matter whether he or she is a Christian or a Muslim.

About 400 years back St. Francis of Assisi was an interfaith pioneer and a lot of inspiration could be derived from him., they added

Nazibul Basher Maizvandary, MP and chairmen  of Bangladesh Tariqat Federation(BTF), Rana Das Gupta, General Secretary of Bangladesh, Hindu, Buddhu  and Christian Oaikyo Parishad, Maulana Forid Uddin Masud, an islamic scholar, Tapanandho Giri Maharaj, Jinabodhi Bhikkhu, Bishop Puel Sishir Sarker and  Samia Huq, associate professor of Brac University,  also attended the program.
