Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday said that the government would build a 15-storey cancer hospital in each of the eight divisions within the next two years.
The health ministry in a statement said he made the announcement at a meeting to review the progress of the project titled 'Establishment of Cancer Hospitals at 8 Divisional Levels' at the secretariat.
He said those hospitals would be built by 2022.
He said those hospitals would have the facilities for the treatment of cancer as well as kidney and heart.
Each department will have at least 300 beds, the minister said, adding that once start operation, people would not need to go abroad for treatment.
