Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday said that they would recruit 2,000 doctors and 4,000 nurses soon to deal the surge of COVID-19 patients. He said the government has taken the decision since the trend of new infections is rising and some healthcare providers have been infected so far.

“We’ll recruit them soon,” he said at the daily bulletin. Bangladesh as of Thursday confirmed 4,186 cases of coronavirus including 127 deaths and 108 recoveries. Over 200 doctors have been infected with the virus so far. The health minister also clarified the position of the government that there will be no special hospital for VIPs coronavirus treatment.

There have been huge criticisms on social media that there is a move to prepare a special hospital for VIPs and wealthy people. “The government has taken no such step. Hospitals will operate equally for everyone and provide the same treatment to everybody,” Maleque said. He also urged all government employees not to make statements without permission from higher authorities.
