All public examinations were held without leaking any question paper this year due to stern measures and sincere steps taken by the authorities concerned, a good omen for ensuing quality of education and building a healthy nation as well.
In the wake of repeated incidents of question paper leakage during the public examinations in the last few years, the country’s eminent academics, members of civil society and people from all walks of life expressed grave concern, terming such offence as an ominous sign for the nation, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said on Saturday.
But this year, the government has set an ‘example’ as there have been no allegations of question paper leaks during the Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations at any places in the country, she added.
“As we were very much cautious and careful this year, there was no scope to leak question paper. And we do believe there will be no question paper leak during the public examinations in the future,” Dipu Moni said while talking to reporters after inspecting JSC and JDC examinations centre at Zinzira PM Pilot High School and College in Keraniganj upazila.
On Saturday, with the participation of over 26 lakh examinees, the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations-2019 began across the country peacefully.
“A vested quarter always remains active in order to spread rumors over question paper leak through different social media like Facebook and Youtube. But these organised thugs have been brought under intelligence surveillance,” Dipu Moni said.
Out of a total 26, 61,682 candidates, the number of JSC examinees is 22,60,716 while 4,00,966 examinees are taking part in the JDC examination. The number of total educational institutions and examination centers are 29,262 and 2,982 respectively.
Dipu Moni said the organised gangs who spread question leak rumors are now under the radar of intelligence agencies.
On the other hand, this year alongside taking strong security measures, the government developed some innovative systems including introduction of lottery to choose question sets and special security envelope so that the question papers have not been leaked.
As a result, students, their guardians and academics heaved a sigh a relief and thanked the government for taking strong and sincere steps to plug all the holes of question paper leak in order to get rid of the malpractice, the minister noted with satisfaction.
Earlier, the question paper leak became the talk of the town as the allegations of question paper leak surfaced in many subjects during the public examinations.
Dipu Moni said as all departments concerned including education ministry and different intelligence agencies have been sincerely working to root out all possible sources of question paper leakage as a vested quarter is involved with the malpractices.
In the JSC examinations, additionally, 454 students are taking part in the JSC and JDC examinations at nine overseas centers in Jeddah, Riyadh, Medina, Tripoli, Doha, Saham in Oman, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Except English papers, examinations of all subjects at JSC and JDC level are being be held under creative question paper this year.
Coaching centers across the country will remain closed from October 25 to November 15 for holding the examinations in a smooth manner.
The results of JSC and JDC examinations will be published under Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) 4 scale from 2020.
