Govt’s anti-corruption drive to continue: Mannan

The government is working to prevent corruption at every levels of the state. The anti-corruption campaign will also take place at the village level. Wherever there is corruption, there will be raids. No irregularities will be tolerated in Haor protection dam. Planning Minister MA Mannan said this to journalists at an event after setting the foundation stone Ferdousi Ali Amjad Chowdhury High School at Fenerbak village of Fenerbak union under Jamalganj upazila of Sunamganj on Friday morning.

The Planning Minister also said that the Prime Minister is sympathetic to the people of Haor area. If a project is presented before the PM, she always asks whether the project will be useful to women, children and the elderly in Haor, Hill, Chor or neglected areas. After inspecting that, she approves the project.

The Minister told the villagers of Haor area that there are no poor people in Bangladesh anymore. We told countries like America, Japan that we don't need their charity anymore. Our country has abundance of paddy, fish and vegetables and we will work hard.  This year, the government has allocated Tk. 150 crore for the protection of crops in  Sunamganj  and Haor region. The Minister directed the money allotted for  Haor Protection Dam to be properly spent.
