In Mongla, government rice with the seal of the Food Department has been seized and conspiracy is going on regarding detaining involved persons in this incident.

Mongla Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rahat Mannan seized 80 sacks of rice from the spot and ordered the arrest of a woman involved in the incident but she was not detained due to mysterious reasons. On the contrary, the person involved in the smuggling of rice was handed over to the local UP member.

The local administration raided the North Chandpai area of Mongla suburb on Tuesday night after receiving reports of government rice being smuggled and stocked.

The UNO told reporters, "The rice has a foul smell, which cannot be used or sold as fish or animal food in any way. These were supposed to be dumped as they smell bad. Even then, the police will investigate how the rice came here, who brought it and take action against them”.

Ujjal Fakir, 32, and his mother Peyara Begum, 50, who are involved in rice smuggling, said, they bought the rice from the barge of Farooq dealer near the ferry terminal. However, the administration did not carry out any operation there for mysterious reasons.
