Rice, cash and milk powder have been allocated for distribution among the beneficiary families of Ishwardi, Pabna, according to the priority list irrespective of party, opinion, religion and caste.

The government-allocated relief aid includes 18,720 metric tonnes of rice, Tk 1,75,000 and 314 packets of powdered milk.

Ishwardi Municipality and seven Union Parishads of the upazila will distribute the relief aid among the real beneficiaries, according to the upazila administration. A public holiday has been declared in the country since March 26 to prevent coronavirus infection.

As a result, the movement of factories, all types of vehicles and trains, including business establishments, has been stopped and the low-income people of Ishwardi have become jobless and are in food crisis.

Ishwardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shihab Raihan said, “The food items have been allocated for distribution among the low-income, helpless poor and real beneficiaries under the direction of the government.”

He said that under no circumstances can food aid be provided to more than one person of the same family and public gatherings be held.

The door-to-door distribution should be ensured through the appointment of the tag officer appointed by the municipality and union ward and through the corona committee.  He also said that action would be taken as per the law if any allegation of irregularity was found.
