The interim government so far has renamed 808 structures across Bangladesh that were previously named after ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and other members of her family.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Chief Adviser's Press Wing said the renaming process of another 169 structures bearing the names of the former premier and her family members is currently underway.
According to the statement, over the past 16 years, a total of 977 public infrastructures and institutions had been named after Hasina, her family members, and Awami League-affiliated politicians.
These included military cantonments, air bases, naval ships, mega bridges, roads, buildings, educational institutions, hospitals, and research centres.
"A majority of these institutions have already been renamed, and the process of renaming the remaining ones is currently underway," the statement read.
