The government is laying utmost importance on proper implementation of the 2nd perspective plan, developing a business-friendly environment and enriched revenue collection mechanism as the country is moving forward to be a developing one by 2026 and then to transform into a developed and smart nation by the year 2041.
State Minister for Planning, Dr. Shamsul Alam made the remarks while addressing the concluding ceremony of 5-day training session styled “Understanding Tax, VAT & Customs Duty for Trade” on Tuesday.
“The importance of keeping the wheels of economy running through strengthening the internal revenue mechanism is enormous. As the Tax-GDP ratio in Bangladesh is lower than any South Asian countries, the government has set a target of 10 percent Tax-GDP ratio and bringing reform in tax management in the national budget of FY 2023-24”, State Minister added.
Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) arranged the training program at its office, Karwanbazar in the capital.
BFTI CEO and former Commerce Secretary, Dr. Zafar Uddin presided over the concluding ceremony while BFTI Director Md. Obaidul Azam delivered address of welcome on the occasion.
Beginning on September 20, the training program was ended on September 24. A total of 32 participants from different ministries, exporters, importers, trade bodies and associations attended the training.
