Govt peruses zero tolerance to human trafficking

The government is committed to ensuring smooth, orderly and responsible migration and adopted a zero tolerance policy against human trafficking.

Minister of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed made the comment in a meeting with the Ambassador of South Italy to Bangladesh Enrico Nunziata. The meeting was held at the minister's office at 11 am on Tuesday. 

The minister said, “The government has taken various initiatives to discourage irregular migration through various campaigns and awareness programs as well as various activities to enable them to go abroad legally by acquiring appropriate skills.”

They also discussed issues related to prevention of human trafficking, ensuring quality and legal labor migration, improving the skills of Bangladeshi workers, expanding Bangladesh's labor market to Italy and building a stronger friendship between the two countries.

Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Dr Ahmed Munirus Saleheen was present during the meeting.
