Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said the government has announced a number of attracting packages with numerous facilities to attract both local and foreign investment, speedy services are being delivered by the agencies concerned with less cost that has increased the interest of investors.
The commerce minister made the remarks while addressing a seminar titled “Bangladesh: The Next Investment Frontier” at Silicon Valley in Los Angeles as the chief guest on Friday
Start Up Bangladesh Limited organized the event with the support of the consul general office in Los Angeles.
Minister said the non-resident Bangladeshi (NRB) businessmen to invest in their motherland, saying that an excellent investment-friendly environment is now prevailing in Bangladesh.
Mentioning that some 100 special economic zones (SEZs) are being set in the country under the auspices of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Tipu said work of many SEZs is nearing completion while local and foreign investors have already started to make investments.
“The NRB businessmen in USA will be benefitted if they invest in SEZs in Bangladesh,” he added.
Noting that the NRBs in USA are playing a vital role towards the welfare of Bangladesh, the commerce minister hoped that they would contribute more towards the economic development of the country.
Prof Kevin E Gally, Serfia Halim, Prof Dorian Lipman, Bioscope Films CEO Raj Hamid and Start Up Bangladesh Limited managing director Tina Jebin spoke, among others, on the occasion.
Consul General in Los Angeles Tareq Mohammad, Commerce Ministry Additional Secretary Md Hafizur Rahman, Joint Secretary Md Abdur Rahim Khan, Bangladesh e-Commerce Association President Shomi Kaiser were present, among others, on the occasion.
