Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defense Brigadier General Moin Uddin said, Government has modernised the fire service unit in order to achieve the smart Bangladesh goal which is now encountered with different conspiracy by a group of people.
Brig Gen Md Moin Uddin has been serving as Director General of Fire service since 2022, and putting his expertise and honesty to bring out the best outcome for the organisation.
Moin Uddin said, Fire Service and Civil Defense offers emergency services for the citizens of Bangladesh. The volunteers of the organisation often endangered their life to help people during crisis moments with honesty, skills and dedication.
“The volunteers devoted themselves with the motto of “Speed, Service, Sacrifice”. The current government is taking and implementing various effective initiatives to raise the institution to world class. Home Minister, Secretary and Director General of the government are working relentlessly with the aim of establishing a world class modern fire service and civil defense along with the aim of constructing at least one fire service station in every upazila of the country,” he said.
"I am determined to raise the institution to world standards with the goodwill of the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Secretary," he added.
"For the purpose of operational management, Rescue Department under the Roads and Highways Department was created. The main goal and objective is to build a safe Bangladesh by protecting lives and property in disasters and to become one of the best institutions in Asia by ensuring civil protection."
Regarding the ongoing development work of the fire service, he said that the program of forming 62 thousand 'urban volunteers' as promised by the Prime Minister to act as a supporting force in dealing with disasters is progressing according to plan. Around 50,000 trained volunteers have already been formed. Procedures have also been taken to procure rescue equipment for them. Around 900 volunteers have been trained to put out slum fires.
He said that volunteers who are interested in working as divers in marine accidents have been given diver training. This organisation is gradually getting rich with modern equipment.
Also, new fire station construction activities are being implemented through various projects. Regular training and inspection programs and counseling in public and private offices, educational institutions and industrial plants continue to strengthen fire prevention systems.
He said that the fire license fair is being conducted for the convenience of businessmen and industrialists. These initiatives are a continuous effort to move the department forward on the path of success.
“With the consent of the Prime Minister and with the overall cooperation and sincere initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs, several activities have already been implemented to improve the quality of life of the members of the Fire Service and Civil Defense. Introduction of risk allowance for operational staff, provision of full ration to all including non-uniform staff, increase in salary of daily wage employees and long demanded ‘khaki’ uniform for all staff has been replaced by new two color uniform.”
Brigadier General Md Moin Uddinstudied at Comilla Cadet College. He was commissioned in the Artillery Corps of the Bangladesh Army in December 1990.
