Govt losing revenue for illegal imports of IT products

Importing IT based products illegally will create barrier in building smart Bangladesh following digital Bangladesh. At the same time, the government is also incurring huge financial losses if such products are imported illegally. 

Gigabyte's distribution company Smart Technologies (BD) Ltd Director (Distribution Business) Zafar Ahmed said this while speaking at a press briefing on launching Gigabyte’s Intel 600 series motherboard at a city hotel on Saturday. Channel Sales Director Mujahid Alberuni Sujan and Gigabyte Country Head Khawaja Md Anas Khan among others were present at the briefing. 

He said, “Some unscrupulous traders are illegally importing non-warranty IT based products including gigabyte products from different countries and selling them in the Bangladesh market. As a result, not only distributors are affected, but the users are becoming the main victims.” 

However, he requested users and buyers, before buying any Gigabyte product to see the smart warranty sticker. Users can contact us directly to them to verify a genuine Chanel product, if any confusion arises. 

Mujahid Al Beruni Sujan in his welcome speech said, “Smart Technology’s journey with Gigabyte is about 18 years. At the same time, Gigabyte’s quality products and Smart’s services together have managed to gain a large market share in the country’s IT peripheral market.”

Khawaja Md. Anas Khan said, “Gigabyte has released a BIOS update for their Intel 600 series motherboards to get the performance of Intel’s new generation processors accrodingly. Gigabyte has always worked closely with Intel to provide the best performance, compatibility and experience to users. The Gigabyte research and development team has prepared well-verified and tested BIOS code for Z690, B660 and H610 motherboards with the new generation of Intel processors. This will greatly assist users in platform upgrades once the new processors are released.”  

However, they have informed that strict legal action will be taken against dishonest traders who import gigabyte products illegally.
