Massive use of polythene has appeared to be a dangerous threat to the environment in Bangladesh. Apart from the soil of Bangladesh, its rivers, canals and other waterbodies are being polluted with the rejected polythene.
Various national and international bodies are concerned with the hazardous impact of the use of polythene. Due to lack of awareness, people are not taking the issue seriously.
Many small factories are collecting the used or rejected polythene through labourers and other sources. The collected polythene is recycled for commercial purpose of saving the environment.
But, it could have been better if government authorities would have taken proper measures in this regard. The government initiatives through collecting the used polythene could have saved rivers and environment of Bangladesh as well.
