Information Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud said that despite all the adversities, the government has been able to keep the prices of goods stable in the country and life is normal.

He said that the instability created in the whole world due to the Russia-Ukraine war, it was not allowed to happen in Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu. So those who criticize this unnecessarily do not look at the world situation.

He was speaking as the chief guest at an Iftar party organized by the Minister's Election Upazila Rangunia Samiti at Bagicha Restaurant in the capital's Segunbagicha on Sunday evening.

The Minister of Information and Broadcasting said that due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, the whole world has become unstable and there is instability in commodity prices everywhere. Citing practical examples, he said prices of essential commodities in the UK had risen by 23pc.

Across Europe, edible oil prices have risen by 70 pc. Energy prices (including household fuel prices) have risen by 50 pc. In the United States, gas and oil prices have risen by 40 pc, and as a result, food prices have risen worldwide.

Not only the increase in commodity prices, but also the stock of supplies is not available in the shopping malls of Europe.

The minister said transportation costs have also gone up there. Due to the Russia-Ukraine war the cost of transportation has not increased nor has the price of electricity increased in our country unlike other countries.

“We did not allow the instability of the whole world to happen in the country under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Those who criticize unnecessarily do not look at the world situation,” he said.

In the pre-iftar meeting, Rangunia Samiti president Obaidul Quader presided over the Iftar and prayer mahfil conducted by General Secretary Engineer Jahangir Alam. Vice President Abu Taher, Nurul Haque and others thanked the Information and Broadcasting minister for various successful development works conducted in the area.
