‘Govt gives importance on digital devices’ innovation

The government is giving utmost importance to innovation of new products and solutions through research to meet the global needs in the coming days. 

As the country is producing and exporting digital devices, it wants to grab global market more by establishing link among inventors, producers and investors through the ‘Digital Device and Innovation Expo) organized by the ICT Department.  

At the same time, initiatives have been taken to protect the country’s intellectual property of the inventors and provide overall assistance in the realization and commercialization of their dreams. 

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said this while addressing a press conference on “Digital Devices and Innovation Expo 2021” at the BCC Auditorium, IC Tower on Wednesday. 

He expressed the hope that Bangladesh would soon become a digital device manufacturing hub as well as a digital device inventor to meet the global demand. An academy has been set up to mentor the entrepreneurs and the innovators. 

“Already 200 entrepreneurs have been assisted. Specialized labs have been set up. We are now going to enact the Authority to Innovation Act to inspire research and innovation,” Mr Palak said. 

The state minister added, “The ICT department has taken initiative to materialize the dream of 100 startups by next year in the ‘Centenary Hundred Hope’ campaign to build a self-reliant Bangladesh on the golden jubilee of independence”. 

“In addition, a ‘Made in Bangladesh Strategy Paper’ has been developed to transform the Digital Bangladesh vision into a long-term strategy. This strategy paper will be presented before the media in this fair,” added the state minister. 

Zunaid Ahmed Palak also said that Hyundai will start investing in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park next week to build electric vehicles. 

Bangladesh Computer Association president Shahid Ul Munir, Fair Organizing Committee Convener Sabbir Rahman Babu, Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director Hosne Ara Begum, A2I Joint Director Selina Parveen, Idea Project Deputy Director Kazi Hosne Ara and Startup Bangladesh Managing Director Tina Jabin, spoke at the press conference.
