Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister Md. Tofazzal Hossain Miah on Tuesday said that to face the long-term challenges of development due to climate change and natural disaster risks, the government has formulated a master plan called 'Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100'.
He came up with the disclosure at a seminar titled “Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 Prospects, Implementation and Stakeholder Coordination’ at the Multipurpose Hall of Pani Bhaban of Greenroad in the capital on Tuesday.
“In order to achieve the desired socio-economic progress of the country, the General Economy Department has formulated this master plan taking the agriculture, fisheries, forestry, water management, public health and environment sectors into consideration” said Md. Tofazzal Hossain Miah.
The Delta Plan-2100 will coordinate other short- and medium-term plans to achieve upper-middle-income country status by 2031 and a developed country status by 2041, including eradicating extreme poverty, addressing the long-term challenges of water, climate, environment and land sustainability, he added.
The Chief Secretary also said ‘Its a reflection of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s far-reaching welfare thinking in implementing the vision of developing a prosperous delta resilient to climate change. The investment plan has been formulated considering short, medium and long term stakeholder coordination of sustainable management of water, environment, climate and land. The most important thing in the implementation of the centenary master plan is the formulation of the investment plan and the implementation of the programme.
Secretary of Water Resource Ministry Nazmul Ahsan delivered his welcome speech in the seminar.
