The government on Sunday set the price for eggs, Sonali chicken, and broiler chicken at the producer, wholesale and retailer levels.
According to the new price, a piece of egg will be sold at Tk 11.87 per piece in the retail market, while Sonali and broiler chickens will cost Tk 269.64 and Tk 179.59 per kg respectively.
In an official letter signed by Dr Mohammad Reyazul Haque, the Director General (current charge) of the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) issued directive.
The letter instructed all concerned stakeholders to implement the prices.
The letter mentioned that a Joint Working Group, comprising representatives from the Department of Agricultural Marketing, the Department of Livestock Services, and various poultry-related organiations, has been formed.
Based on the group’s recommendations, the Department of Agricultural Marketing has fixed the rational prices for chickens (Sonali and broiler) and eggs for the year 2024.
The Ministry of Agriculture reviewed the related reports and requested necessary action for setting the prices of chickens and eggs.
In response, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock issued the directive to ensure the proper implementation of the newly set price.
According to the new price, eggs will be sold at Tk 10.58 at the producer level, Tk 11.01 at the wholesale level, and Tk 11.87 at the retail level.
For Sonali chicken, the price has been set at Tk 260.78 per kg at the producer level, Tk 264.57 per kg at the wholesale level, and Tk 269.64 per kg at the retail level. For broiler chickens, the price per kg is Tk 168.91 at the producer level, Tk 172.61 at the wholesale level, and Tk 179.59 at the retail level.
To ensure the proper implementation of these prices, letters have been sent to all concerned related to poultry industry.
