Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Sunday said the government has a scope to examine whether to introduce individual grades or fixing it to 10 instead of 20 grades in the national pay scale.
The finance minister said this while responding to a query raised by treasury bench lawmaker SyedaRubina Akhter of women seat-28 at the question-answer session which was tabled at the JatiyaSangsad here with Speaker DrShirinSharminChaudhury in the chair.
A total of 20 grades have been introduced in the national pay scale since 1977. "There is a greater opportunity to examine whether to introduce 10 grades reducing it from the total 20 grades," he told the parliament.
A total of ten grades were proposed in the national pay scale during the regime of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after reviewing the pay scale of other countries including other neighboring countries - Nepal, India and Sri Lanka.
