‘Govt emphasising on vocational education’

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said that government has been emphasizing on vocational education. Country is moving forward in this sector. We are hoping to gain our ‘vision 2041’ even before the time. 

The minister said this while addressing the inauguration ceremony of a vocational training centre for outgoing expat workers at Ashikati area of Chandpur Sadar.

“Country witnesses sharp rise in vocational education from 1% in 2009 to 20 percent now. Government is emphasizing on vocational education to produce skilled manpower.” the minister said.

Dr Dipu moni also reiterates that there will be no gender based discrimination on training outgoing expats workers.

Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad also spoke as the special guest at the event. He said, it is not enough just to be educated, but you must be proficient in technical knowledge as well. There is no other option except vocational education to build skill-based workforce.

He hopes that country’s remittance inflow will boost utilizing these skilled manpower.

He also warned outgoing expats not to step into the trap of broker. 

He also said, in terms of earning foreign currency, Chandpur stays in the fifth position. Each year, around 50 thousand workers are going abroad from this district. We are hoping to send more skilled worker through this training centre. 

The secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment, Ahmed Munirus Saleheen presided over the program while Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan, Police Superintendent Milan Mahmud, Technical Training Project Director Saiful Haque, Chandpur Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Nurul Islam Nazim Dewan also gave their speech. 

The newly inaugurated training center will offer a total of seven types of trainings with the duration of 6 months to one year to produce skilled workforce.
