The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is determined to improve rail communication across the country, Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujon on Tuesday said.
"To ensure overall development of rail communication, the government created the Railway Ministry in 2011. As part of the development, a separate rail bridge is being constructed over Jamuna river, adjacent to Bangabandhu Bridge to make the rail journey popular and comfortable", he also said.
The minister said this while addressing an inaugural function of resumption of "Ramsagor Express Train" on the Bonarpara-Panchagarh route at Bonarpara Station under Saghata upazila in the district this afternoon as the chief guest.
Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Mahabub Ara Begum Gini and local lawmaker Mahmud Hasan Ripon spoke at the function as special guests while president of Saghata upazila Awami League Advocate Shamsil Arefin Titu presided over the function.
Under the dynamic and prudent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, initiative has been taken to modernize the railway department, he also said.
He urged the people to vote for boat to reelect Awami League for keeping the development spree of the country going.
