Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury has said that that the government buildings will be built using environment-friendly technology and materials.
The government has taken this decision to control air pollution and stop wastage of valuable agricultural land. The ministries and the departments concerned with the construction and works of the government, including the city corporations and municipalities, shall follow the targets of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in the construction of offices. Saber Hossain Chowdhury these while laying the foundation stone for the construction of a community center adjacent to Goran Sheikh Russel Ground at Khilgaon in the capital on Wednesday (January 31).
Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas, Chief Executive Officer of DSCC Md. Mizanur Rahman, Ward Councilor of DSCC’s Ward No. 2 Anisur Rahman, and Reserved Women Councilor Farzana Yasmin Biplobi were also present at the ceremony.
Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that many basic needs of the people of the area will be fulfilled as a result of the construction of the Goran community Center. In this center they can conduct various social and cultural activities. Besides, the center will also act as a meeting place for the people of the area.
Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas said that this community center will be environment friendly, fire and earthquake resistant. It will have modern facilities including parking, underground water reservoir, water pump, fire fighting room, councilor room, health care, toilet, gymnasium, washroom, banquet hall, lift.
Later, the Environment Minister and Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation planted two saplings.
