Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has said the present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has attached top priority to technical education aimed at generating skilled human resources. “The government is pledge-bound to take the country forward through substantial and sustainable improvement of technical and vocational education,” he said while addressing a function at Rajshahi on Thursday as the chief guest.

Technical Training Centre (TTC) organised the function to mark the reception of its new students and farewell of SSC (Vocational) students at its playground. Chaired by TTC Principal Engineer Abdur Rahim, the function was addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shahidullah and Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Tariqul Islam.

Mayor Liton said technical and vocational education and training among the youths are very crucial for transforming Bangladesh into a middle-income country. He also viewed that technical education could be an effective means of building competent and skilled human resources. Role of skilled people is also very important for earning more foreign remittance which is significant for the country’s development.

He also described the government’s decision to promote remittance inflow as significant through exporting manpower legally and urged the officials concerned to make people more aware of going to overseas markets legal way.
