Planning Minister M. A. Mannan on Wednesday said his Ministry is giving priority to projects related to safe food, nutrition, and safe water, and those benefit women, children, and older people.
"We are working to deliver safe food, nutrition and clean water to everyone, especially to the low-income people." Minister added,
He was addressing a discussion session on ‘Engaging Members of Parliament (MPs) for Strengthening Food Safety to Improve Nutrition in Bangladesh’ at the LD Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad to promote safe food and nutrition to strengthen food safety and to improve nutrition in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Parliamentary Forum for Health and Wellbeing, Shastho Shurokkha Foundation and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) jointly organized the discussion.
State Minister of Planning Dr. Shamsul Alam attended the program as special guest Chairman of Bangladesh Parliamentary Forum for Health and Wellbeing Prof. Dr. Md. Habibe Millat MP chaired the session.
State Minister for planning while addressing said, "The responsibility of the state is to ensure food security and nutrition for the people, and we are working towards that goal. We have several laws to ensure safe food, and a strong role and cooperation of parliamentarians to implement these laws is very important.”
Dr. Habibe Millat said, under the leadership of our Prime Minster , we are moving forward to ensure safe food and nutrition.
Dr. Rudaba Khandkar, country director of GAIN said, "Bangladesh will be able to ensure safe food and nutrition in the future through the active participation of our youth”.
