The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced the government grants for films for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. This year, 20 full-length films and 6 short films have been selected for funding.
The total grant for the full-length films is Tk 14 crore. Sixteen of these films will each receive Tk 75 lakhs, while the remaining four will get Tk 50 lakhs each. Among the four films receiving Tk 50 lakhs, two are children's films and the other two are documentaries.
Two films in the Liberation War category, "Pakistane Bondi Jibon" by Sajedul Islam and "Chhowa" by Rakibul Hasan, will each receive Tk 75 lakhs.
Notable recipients include directors and producers N Rashed Chowdhury, Piplu R Khan, Nargis Akhter, Niamul Mukta, and actor-director-producer Manoj Pramanik.
From the Children's Welfare Department, "Odvut," produced by Raied Morshed and directed by Touquir Islam, and "Cholonbiler Manik," by Niamul Mukta, will each get Tk 50 lakhs.
In the documentary category, "No-Mads of the North" by Piplu R Khan and "Kaler Jatra" by Rasel Rana Doza will receive Tk 50 lakhs each.
In the general category, 14 films will each receive Tk 75 lakhs. These include "Mihin Gatha" by Mirza Shabnam Ferdousi, "Thikana" by Jahangir Hossain Babar, and "Suraiya" by Fazle Hasan Shishir, among others.
Six short films will also receive funding. "Aporajito '71" by Mayeen Uddin Pathan and "Joldashi" by Md Abdul Khalek will each receive Tk 20 lakhs. "Dolim Kumar and Talpukur's Ant" by Samir Ahmed will get Tk 20,000. In the general short film category, "Moutali Pithar Ghran" by Juairayaha Mou, "Phoenix Pakhi" by S M Kamrul Ahsan, and "Abu Ibrahim er Mrittu" by Mohammad Mamun Sobhani will each receive Tk 20 lakhs.

of films that reflect the nation's culture, history, and values.
