Govt announces financial support for victims

The government has announced financial support for the families of the B’Baria train accident victims. The families of the deceased persons will get Tk 1,25,000 each while families of injured person will get Tk 10,000 each.

Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan announced Tk 100,000 for the families of the deceased persons each and Tk 10,000 for each injured persons.   

The minister further said the district administration will also give Taka 25 thousand to the families of the deceased persons each for the burial.

At least 16 people were killed and more than 50 were injured as two intercity trains collided in Kasba upazila under Brahmanbaria district on Tuesday, reports BSS.

Among the dead, 7 are male, 6 female and 3 are children, said Brahmanbaria

police super Anisur Rahman. Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. Public Relation Officer of Railway Ministry Sharif Alam told BSS that five

probe committees were formed to investigate the accident by the Railway Ministry, District Administration and Railway authorities, separately. The Railway Inspection Department was asked to inspect the spot and submit

a report on the accident, the official said. The collision occurred while Udayan Express was changing its track at the station at 3 am. At least two coaches of Udayan Express were severely damaged in the accident.
