The 54th National Cooperative Day has been celebrated in Gopalganj with a colorful procession and a discussion meeting.
The day's inauguration ceremony was held on Saturday morning at the Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Parishad premises, centering on the theme "Cooperatives will build the nation in equality and equity."
On the occasion of the National Cooperative Day, the chief guest of the event, Gopalganj District Administrator and Learned District Magistrate (Joint Secretary) Muhammad Kamruzzaman, hoisted the national flag on Saturday morning with the spontaneous participation of people from all classes and professions. Later, led by the District Administrator, a colorful procession commenced from the Upazila Parishad complex, paraded through various streets of the town, and concluded upon returning to the starting point.
Subsequently, a discussion meeting was held at the auditorium of the Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Parishad. The District Administrator, Muhammad Kamruzzaman, was the chief guest at the meeting.
The meeting was presided over by Additional District Administrator (Education and ICT) Ruli Biswas. The special guests who spoke at the discussion meeting included Additional Police Superintendent Md. Shakhawat Hossain, Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M. Rokibul Hasan, District Cooperative Union President Sheikh Masudur Rahman, and District Cooperative Officer Jibannessa Khanam.
The speakers said the cooperative movement is a key foundation for the country's development, employment, and economic self-reliance. They stated that sustainable development can be ensured if the spirit of cooperation is realized through people's participation.
At the end of the program, District Administrator Muhammad Kamruzzaman, along with the invited guests, presented awards to the district's successful cooperative organizations and their representatives.
Officials from various government and private institutions, public representatives, representatives from various cooperative organizations, and media personnel working in electronic and print media in the district were present at the time.
