A devastating fire broke out at the warehouse of Shree Krishna Store in Jatrapur Bazar, Bagerhat Sadar Upazila on Tuesday night. The blaze, which began around 1:30 AM, completely destroyed all goods stored inside, resulting in an estimated loss of around one crore taka, according to the affected business owner.

The warehouse contained a large stock of groceries, hardware, cosmetics, stationery, and other items—all of which were reduced to ashes.

Debdash Debnath (Kanan), the owner of Shree Krishna Store, stated that he resides on the upper floor of the shop. He noticed the fire at around 1:30 AM and immediately raised the alarm. Despite efforts by locals and the fire service, it took nearly two hours to bring the fire under control. By then, the entire warehouse had been destroyed. He suspects an electrical short circuit may have sparked the blaze.

Eyewitness Abdullah Al Noman said the fire was fierce and uncontrollable until the fire brigade arrived. Station Officer Md. Shahjahan Mia confirmed that initial signs point to an electrical short circuit as the likely cause.
