The prices of gold in the local market have shot up. After the latest hike, the price of one bhari or 11.66 grams of 22-carat gold stands at Tk 71,442.

Bangladesh Jewelers’ Samity (BAJUS) announced the price hike in a statement on Monday. They said that per gram of gold has been increased by Tk 2,333 which comes into effect from Monday.

The weight of 21 and 18 carat silver is 1 thousand 435 and 1 thousand 225 taka respectively. The traditional method silver will be sold at 933 taka.
