Renowned theatre troupe Padatik Natya Shongshod is going to stage the play ‘Gohonjatra’ on Friday (January 3) at 7:00pm. The show will commence at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Rubayat Ahmed wrote the script and Sudip Chakraborty directed the play. Shamsi Ara Sayeka will give a solo performance in the show.

When extremism rises in a land, the followers of that extremist ideology try to wipe out all those who oppose them. They carry out mass destruction, kill countless people and rape women. They capture a minority group who has differing opinions from them. Many of them die trying to escape.

The sole survivor is Salma. She returns to bury the dead. At that moment, she realized the existence of another entity in her. That entity is either part of her subconscious or something else. We don’t know for sure. That entity starts to give her company. After burying the dead, Salma finds that her partner has also been murdered brutally by the extremists.

Salma gets captured by the extremists. She is raped and burnt alive. Salma realizes that it is a test and if she passes the test she will achieve nirvana. Through her death, she prays for the triumph of good over evil and the end of tyranny and destruction from the world. In this way, the story progresses.
