Glowing tributes paid to Bangamata

Awami League and its associate and likeminded bodies today paid rich tributes to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on her 90th birth anniversary, reports BSS.

Leaders and workers of the party placed wreaths at her grave at the city’s Banani graveyard on Saturday morning.

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Presidium Members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Information Minister and AL Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Publicity and Publications Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Central Working Committee members Riazul Kabir Kawser and Marufa Akhter Poppy were present, among others, on the occasion.

With maintaining health guidelines and social distancing in the wake of coronavirus outbreak, doa mahfil, milad and Qurankhawni were held there seeking eternal peace of her soul.

Fazilatunnesa Mujib was born on this day in 1930 in Tungipara under Gopalganaj district.

She, along with Bangabandhu and most of their family members, was brutally assassinated on the darkest night of August 15 in 1975.

Dhaka City north and south units of AL, Awami Jubo League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Awami Swechchhasebak League, Jubo Mahila League, Krishak League, Mahila Awami League, Jatiya Sramik League and Tanti League paid tributes to Bangamata by placing wreaths at her grave.

Dhaka University, Bangamata Parishad, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote and different other organizations paid homage to Bangamata.
