A rally and discussion meeting were held at Gurdaspur upazila square in Natore district on Tuesday on the occasion of the Global Handwashing Day.
The upazila administration and the Department of Public Health Engineering arranged the programmes.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Salma Akhter presided over the event. The meeting was moderated by Gurdaspur Public Health Assistant Engineer Wahiduzzaman. In the event, the speakers highlighted the importance of handwashing in front of the students of various government primary schools in the upazila and showed the correct rules.
Agriculture Officer Harunor Rashid, Secondary Education Officer Salim Akhter, Project Implementation Officer Abdul Hannan, Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Ratan Chandra Saha and Assistant Deputy Engineer Salma Khatun were present as special guests.
Speakers in the discussion meeting emphasised the importance of health protection by developing handwashing habits. The programme played an important role in creating awareness among the students.
