Bibi Maymuna (19), a college student committed suicide by hanging herself after 3 months of marriage in Bhorer Bazar area, Saherkhali Union, Mirsarai in Chattogram on Saturday.
She is the daughter of late Nizam Uddin of Meherullah Munshi Bari in Nayaduar area of Khayachara Union. Maymuna was a second year HSC student of Nizampur University College.
Relatives of the deceased, who did not want to be named, told Bangladesh Post that Iqbal Hossain Ripon, son of Younus Miah, married according to the custom. The family was doing well for the first few months after the marriage. She has been having some troubles with her mother-in-law for the last few days.
On Saturday afternoon, Ripon saw the door to his room open. He went inside and found the body of his wife hanging from the ceiling.
Contacted, Mujibur Rahman, Mirsarai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) said to Bangladesh Post that the body of the victim was recovered from the spot and brought to the police station. It was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMC) morgue for autopsy.
``Before the autopsy report came in, it could not be said whether it was murder or suicide``- OC added.
